The finish line

No, it's not another post about sneakers.

I have mentioned the continuing drama about closing the deal on the sale of my parents' store, an endurance test of our will and patience that only recently reached the homestretch. Finally, at long last, it is done. We received the final, sizable down payment this morning, and a copy of the recorded deeds and promissory note. The repayment schedule starts July 1, and I certainly hope that the buyer will follow through on our instructions for the first of many electronic funds transfers. (If not, we have exciting penalties waiting for him.)

Also today we received some spy photographs of the remodeled store, taken by a friend of my parents. It doesn't seem like the new owner did all that much to change the store, seeing as how he had possession of the property since October and had promised to close the deal no later than March (and ended up opening the store in January and not closing until this week). Whatever.
