On this day in 1964

No, not the passage of the Civil Rights Act -- that's July 2.

41 years ago today, Stephen Colbert entered the world. He is, quite possibly, the funniest man on television. (Though Hugh Laurie may have something to say about that.) I know that
The Daily Show doesn't work as well without Jon Stewart behind the desk, but the show -- and Jon -- are never better than when Stephen makes an appearance.

Neat fact: before The Daily Show, Stephen Colbert and Steve Carell provided the voices of Ace and Gary in the much-missed SNL "The Ambiguously Gay Duo" cartoon shorts.

A certain movie release next week prompts a very special
55 Fiction Friday.

There were awkward geniuses, and then there was Donal. He thought in anagrams. I asked him about the Star Wars movies, which he just watched recently.

“What did you think about the guy who played Obi-Wan Kenobi?”
“Genuine class?” he replied.

“And what was your favorite aspect of the Darth Vader character?”
“He’s the Sith.”
