The wonderful world of policy

I returned to Las Vegas Saturday evening. Dinner was served as The Wonderful World of Disney was broadcast on ABC. (Major flashback to my childhood.)

The movie was Lilo & Stitch, an endearing if unusual animated film. The Hawaiian sisters were arguing over the alien's fate.

LILO: He was an orphan and we adopted him! What about ohana?

NANI: He hasn't been here that long!

LILO: Neither have I. Dad said ohana means family.

[Nani stops]

LILO: Ohana means family. Family means...

TOGETHER: ...nobody gets left behind.

"Sounds like Bush's education policy," I said, garnering a few family chuckles. Ever the joke set-up artist, my sister asked if ohana was indeed the President's approach to education.

"Well, it was that or hakuna matata."
