525,600 minutes

Irony alert: this weblog celebrates its paper anniversary today. I've noticed others have celebrated their first year by rounding up some of their best posts in that "wow, what a year it's been" sense. That's fine, but as usual I thought I'd try something different.

The following is a list of stories I did not discuss this past year:

1. President Bush, impeached. Must have slipped my mind.

2. Child of the Chateau. I lost my chance to ghostwrite the memoirs of Robert Downey, Jr. Can't imagine why.

3. Intricacies of cat ownership. Yeah, right. Allergic; lovin' it.

4. Blanket Michael Jackson: the interview. This actually happened, but the prosecutors have instructed me not to share.

5. Penguins eating only fast food for a month. It was a nice documentary concept, but somehow it felt derivative.

I'm not yet sensing any blog depression, as mentioned recently by the Columnist Manifesto. I write many partial entries in advance, so that I have ideas in place for when nothing else comes to mind. But it's still a possibility. (In my past bloglife, I lasted 13 months before painting myself into a corner. It wasn't pretty.)

Full speed ahead, I figure. I celebrate a year of 55 Fiction Fridays next week, and August will bring the 12th installment of the monthly Fictional Speaker Series. Look for new segments entitled "Late to the Party," where I discuss something that I discovered long after discussing it was timely and cool. And I'm sure I'll have plenty of interesting content between now and November, when college basketball returns, and all is right with the world.
