"I weep for the future."

Such a brilliant comment from Jonathan Schmock, who played the real visionary in Ferris Bueller's Day Off.

To keep from crying, I've decided not to let go of 2005 just yet. So imagine, if you will, that the year 2005 were packaged as a DVD set. What's great about the DVD format is that it includes everything, even the extras: the behind the scenes footage, the outtakes, and other stuff never before seen. It's all there, whether you want it or not.

So next week I'll be presenting different DVD extras. Here's a guide.

Monday: Outtakes (The billionaire's love connection)
more choice words from November's fictional speaker

Tuesday: Behind the Scenes (Mister Roberts, part 1)
what TV news wouldn't show during the John Roberts announcement

Wednesday: Deleted Scenes (Mister Roberts, part 2)
a vital exchange in the John Roberts confirmation hearings that was left out of the Congressional Record

Thursday: Documentary Feature (Incense and sensibility)
advances made by Indian people in American culture

Friday: Easter Egg (The history of psychiatry)
what Tom Cruise knew, but never told Matt Lauer

There's even talk of an Alternate Ending feature here at Brevity, but don't expect it until April.

There's not much to it. Just wear a white T-shirt and sweater vest, and be devastatingly handsome. That, and move to Chicago.
