We're taking my aunt and two cousins to the Grand Canyon this weekend. Because each of our cars fit no more than 5 comfortably, or 6 uncomfortably, we've rented a minivan or some similar monstrosity. (Holy gas guzzler! It's the Canyonero!)
Here's what I know: we leave Friday, stop at Hoover Dam briefly, approach the park, check into the Red Feather Lodge (1 mile from the park's south entrance), then spend the rest of the day oohing and aahing. More of the same Saturday, and we return at night.
We've never been to the Grand Canyon ourselves, but I feel confident that my readers are well-traveled folk who have done their own National Lampoon's Vacation at some point in their lives. Advice or recommendations? What should we skip? Are bus tours better? Is there another attraction in the area also worth seeing? Anyone care to switch places with me? I've always wanted to visit the Grand Canyon, and I'm not taking the bar right now. Can I go? I hear you get to ride a burro.

One of these? It's a deal.
"The Federal Highway Commission has ruled the Canyonero unsafe for highway or city driving."
I admire what you have done here. I like the part where you say you are doing this to give back but I would assume by all the reviews that this is working for you as well.
Quite effective material, lots of thanks for the article.
